The danger of welding smoke!
Welding smoke contains harmful substances that can make you ill gradually without you realising this. Diseases as a result of welding smoke sometimes only manifest themselves after weeks, months or even years.
Welding smoke contains a mixture of tiny particles that can damage the nose and respiratory system.
Breathing in some metal vapours in the welding smoke can result in metal fume fever. The symptoms do not last long and consist of coughing attacks, headache and fever. Exposure to nickel and chromium can increase the chance of contracting lung cancer.
It is no coincidence that many welders working in the metal industry suffer from flu-like symptoms (a cold, fever, headache, etc.). Many of these symptoms are not caused by flu at all but by breathing in welding smoke while welding.
